EditPlus 5.6 supports now Windows 10/11 dark mode

Good old lightweight text/code editor EditPlus supports start from last, 5.6 version also Windows dark mode.

EditPlus first version was released already in 1998. Very few resources from computer demanding editor have built-in FTP, FTPS and sftp capabilities.

It have syntax highlighting support for HTML, PHP, Java, C/C++, CSS, ASP, Perl, JavaScript, VBScript, Python and Ruby on Rails.

Seamless Web browser for previewing HTML pages, and FTP (also sftp and FTPS) feature for uploading local files to FTP server.

Other features include Hex Viewer, HTML toolbar, user tools, line number, ruler, URL highlighting, auto completion, cliptext, column selection, powerful search and replace, multiple undo/redo, spell checker, customizable keyboard shortcuts, and more.

EditPlus own UI looks outdated nowadays, with this everyone agrees. But most annoying was when moving around between development tools that EditPlus didn’t support dark theme for its panels and it made so much pain to eyes to watch it. But starting from 5.6 version EditPlus also support Windows dark mode for Windows 10 and 11 versions.

How to activate dark mode support?

  1. Move in menu “Tools” > “Preferences” > “General” > “Colors”
  2. Fill checkbox in “Follow system dark mode (Experimental)”
  3. Push “Apply”
  4. Make restart for your Editor
  5. All should work
